Now what you do for this is go to this link...

Which takes you to a picture of a hairstyle, then using whatever style of shading you like, doll that hairstyle. For this project a portrait base would not only be advisable it would be preferable.

I chose this picture because I felt that the lighting was very apparent and obvious and it was not to hard and not to easy a style either.

Have fun and don't forget to post your finished doll here.

Remember the point of this activity is to discuss each other's work in a mature and analytical fashion. This is not for empty flattery or for insulting behavior. The point is to learn from this.

Welcome to the School of Dolling.

I would like to introduce myself, I am makare an avid dolling student. I would certainly not want anyone to think that I thought of myself as qualified to simply teach others how to doll. Although I am getting better all the time I am still far from perfect, but aren't we all.

I am going to list some of the ideas that I have for this School of Dolling:

1. Have guest lecturers- I intend to ask different dollers in the community if they would be willing to unveil some of their tried and true secrets and to let us have an idea of their journey through this hobby called dolling.

2. Using a picture base have anyone who wants to make a doll based on the picture and then we can discuss different techniques used and different approaches to color and lighting.

3. Have a theme for a week or more if needed.. such as pixel shading, light sources or perhaps even selecting a base.

These are some of the ideas I have had so far, I am very willing to hear what others would like to see and any ideas you may have.

thank you for being here,
Makare
